Information for Subjects

Researchers in the Walton College are trying to answer a variety of questions using various tools including conducting behavioral research.  For this reason researchers often need volunteers to participate in studies.  Some studies involve answering surveys about attitudes towards various products, others involve trying out new software or products and offering feedback, while others place participants in the role of firm managers for simulations.

To serve the variety of studies that occur in the BBRL, an electronic system has been developed that enables students to learn about opportunities to patricide.  This system has three components:

  • Interactive Decision Experiments ad Arkansas (IDEA)
For IDEA experiments subjects receive cash compensation for participating plus additional money based upon the decision they make during the experiment as well as the decisions that other participants make.

  • Consumer Attitude Research Surveys (CARS)
For CARS studies, participants are given a specified compensation which may be cash, gift certificates, or some product.

  • Class Credit Studies
The third component consists of studies for which students receive class credit or extra credit.  This is done through an agreement between specific class instructors and researches.  Such experiments are shown under the department listing for the class in which the credit is received.

Research involving humans is closely monitored and scrutinized by the UA’s institutional review board, so participants can rest assured that nothing extreme will occur and that all information that might impact your decision to participate in a given study will be provided prior to your participation.

All subjects who participate in studies in
the BBRL must register in the database.
